About – Bell Book and Tarot

img_3063Hi, I’m Haile, I live in a little house with my lovely family in the center of England. It’s pretty urban/suburban round here, but there are plenty of green spaces if you know where to look and we are always looking.

I am a Tarot enthusiast, a fledgling hedge witch and an organic gardener and allotment holder. Tarot decks have evolved into so many different systems and in my opinion are remarkable works of art, imagination and creativity, I just think they are beautiful! I love the way so many different belief systems can be applied to Tarot – i.e. Chakras, Elements, Kabbalah, Astrology, Mythology, Herbalism and Paganism. The more you learn, the more the onion peels back and reveals more. Tarot is beautiful, challenging, insightful and ever evolving. When you consult the cards as trusted friends, they tell a story, and then you take the threads of those stories and weave your own….

I love my cards, I pick them up every day, and this is my little eclectic blog about my journey with the Tarot and any other related things.

There is a wonderful online community of websites and Tarot bloggers, so to help you on your own Tarot journey I would recommend you check out the following sites, I go back to these sites again and again….

One of the loveliest online Tarot resources, progressive, alternative and inspirational – with a great shop!…..Little Red Tarot

No nonsense Tarot talk and advice, from the author of the brilliant Tarot book Kitchen Table Tarot….Little Fox Tarot

To learn how to read Tarot efficiently and well…The Tarot Lady

Just a note on navigation around the site….

  • Bell Book and Tarot – Introduction to my site and me (this page! 🙂
  • Home – Just a general stream of all the latest posts in no particular order, other than a timely one.
  • Tarot Diary  – A collection of posts from my daily card pulls, weekly reading and general tarot thoughts, organised by month.
  • Decks – Organised by Decks, including reviews and cards. I am a deck hoarder, what can I say – they are works of art.
  • Cards – For posts relating to specific cards – I expect crossover with the tarot diary, but you can search based on Major and the Minors broken down, to hopefully ease navigation.
  • 13 Moons – I am a ‘do my own thing Wiccan/Pagan’, but I always follow the moon and her cycle, and this gives me focus, grounding and inspiration, so as part of this project to improve my Tarot skills, in this area you can find links to posts about the phases of the moon and the Tarot. So click here for New Moon and Full Moon posts.
  • Witchery and Folklore – A collection of posts on herb-lore, folklore, hedgerow remedies, spells and general witchiness.

Bell, Book and Tarot is named after the wonderful Bell, Book and Candle film with Kim Novak and James Stewart, which is a huge favorite of mine. One day, I will have a cat called Pyewacket. If you like witchy films, this is gem.

Thank you so much for visiting.

Haile x

  2. Years ago I helped a friend with her homework for a university anthropology course she was taking with a focus on witchcraft. As part of that work she wrote a paper on the movie, “Bell, Book, and Candle”. We must have watched it a dozen times as we picked out all the hidden and not so hidden symbolisms.

It remains a favourite movie of mine.

    1. I love it too. I love the way it looks in particular. I always feel a little let down by the end though. I much prefer Gillian as a Witch in black selling African and tribal arts, than the pretty coral selling Gillian at the end. Personally I would have stuck with the cat!
